SANTA'S HELPERS

Mrs Claus Santa Claus and Mrs Claus have known each other well before the first fells formed in the Lappish wilderness. Mrs Claus also lives at Korvatunturi and her job is to keep the entire Korvatunturi running while Santa and the elves concentrate on their own important tasks. Mrs Claus can also be met in the Municipality of Savukoski to which Korvatunturi belongs, where she has her own cabin.

Elves Santa Claus has loads of elves. People say that when the sun sets at Korvatunturi, just as many elf feet can be seen poking out of the bed covers as there are stars in the sky. New elves are always born when simultaneously the very last rays of evening sunshine meet the Northern Lights and stars shine in the heavens. It is also possible for any human to be promoted as an elf. Promotion requires successful completion of Elf School and of course some genuine Christmas magic in their hearts. No two elves are the same: some are smaller than a baby dormouse, while others are bigger than the biggest spruce trees at Korvatunturi. Each elf also has its very own name and special duties, and they live all over the world. Although elves can be very large, they are still very difficult to spot. This is due to their extremely rapidly running legs and silent movement. Did you know that humans can only see elves when the elves themselves actually want to be seen?

Reindeer Without a doubt, Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer is the best-known of all Santa’s reindeer. Rudolf is easily spotted during Christmastime due to his glowing red nose. Of course, Rudolf is only one of Santa’s reindeer, as a number of reindeer are needed to pull the gift sleigh. At some stage in life, each of Santa's reindeer learns to fly at the Rudolf Red Nose Flying School.  However, they only fly at Christmas and when conducting test flights. The reason for this is that only Christmastime has sufficient magic to make flying possible. During other times the reindeer graze in the wilderness of Lapland.
