REINDEER ROUND-UPS
In the autumn the reindeer owners once again herd together their reindeer herds and the animals for slaughter are separated from the herd. At the same round-up, the reindeer belonging to other reindeer herder cooperatives are separated and taken to their right cooperatives.
At the reindeer round-up, the reindeer used for breeding and which will live over the next winter are registered or counted and a number of reindeer herder cooperatives also treat the reindeer with parasiticides. The reindeer round-ups are open events, so tourists are also very welcome to experience a piece of traditional Lappish culture.
