Lemmenjoki National Park

Lemmenjoki National Park at Inari is the largest national park in Finland. The park is a perfect destination for wilderness hikers as it offers vast areas of forest wilderness. Lemmenjoki is especially known for gold-digging. The gold-digging area and its history are unrivalled.

The park consists of large river valleys and the surrounding fells, forests and mires. Most of the man-made hiking structures and marked trails are found in the Lemmenjoki River Valley. The heart of the park, the gates of the gold-digging area, can be reached by boats run by local entrepreneurs.

Even beginners can have a go at canoeing on the River Lemmenjoki. The river flows peacefully on, resembling a lake in places. It is also possible to go fishing in the river’s recreational fishing area.
