FIS ALPINE WORLD CUP LEVI
Levi has confirmed its place as one of the major organizers of Alpine Skiing World Cup events. Levi will host the season openings of the FIS men and ladies slalom events until season 2012/2013!
Many people were skeptical when Levi and The Finnish Skiing Association first started to think about an alpine event in the early 1990s. A clear view, hard work and strong belief in final results that we get to enjoy today - during the race weekend about 20,000 people travel to the village of Sirkka with the population of aprox. 700 people and upon that about 100 million pairs of eyes watching the event on TV. With the Levi World Cup events and the Finnish skiers, Finland has become a major alpine ski country.
The Levi World Cup has a great reputation. This is the feedback Levi has got from the FIS, the teams, the media, the sponsors and the audience. There is something about Lapland that really impresses the international alpine skiing people. It is great to see the best alpine skiers of the world talking to Santa Claus and people wearing Lapland hats just like children.
TV broadcasting of the openings will bring the beautiful scenery of Lapland to millions households all over the world.
